An amigo of mine is interested in an '04 Sportie.
Apparently it jumps out of first gear.
I've had the gearbox/transmission out of my '89 a number of times and feel that I've more than enuf experience to replace parts for him if he buys it. But, my 4 speed Evo is the only box that I've experience with saying that.
Anybody have any thoughts please?

Sportster have a shift pawl in the primary if one of the pawls has worn or broken tooth it won't engage completely in gear. The pawl for 1st gear is also the downshift pawl. That would be the first place I would look at
