Last night I returned to Winchester with the very last load of stuff from Illinois.

This was the 10th trip, which included:

4 trips with my Colorado pulling a 6'x12' Uhaul trailer
3 trips with my Colorado pulling my own utility trailer
1 trip with a friends 10,000lb trailer and Dodge 3500 Dually
1 trip with a 26' Uhaul box truck - the biggest they had
1 trip with 4'x5' Uhaul trailer

Had to put new tires and brakes on the Colorado and I am sure the transmission is worn from all of this work. I also had to put a tire on my friends trailer and also two new fronts on his Dually due to road damage. The roads in Kentucky and Indiana are terrible - and I thought Illinois was bad (it is...).

And with that - the Illinois house will go to the new owners on the 27th and we will be free of Illinois and their taxes.

We are doing a remote closing so we don't have to drive back up for that.

Maggie has settled into her job as the HR lead ("People Lead") at the Manchester Walmart, and I am enjoying working from home in TN watching the birds in the back yard from the "office" family room while I work.

This last load had the truck loaded down with the rest of my Jack Daniels collection. It's good to have it down here with us.

Good to hear from you and glad all is well. Moving long distances is a challenge at best. Glad the move went relatively well but those expenses do add up. I'm sure you will enjoy the lower tax base and even more importantly the riding there. Glad all's well.  8)

Glad everything went good for you @mqqn  I can understand the tax thing, Washington state is getting ridiculous especially in King County.

Hi friends -

Well - it's been a busy time - and it will get even busier in the next few months - our remodel starts this coming Thursday, with demo starting on the master and kitchen.

The Jack Daniel invitational BBQ is also starting this Thursday, let us know if anyone is coming into Lynchburg for the weekend - we have several parties arranged around the area each night of the BBQ, and a friend of mine lives next to Mary Bobo's boarding house in Lynchburg adjoining the BBQ grounds.

I'll be around here more often, and @HDBitchin  - we need to discuss if you are going to the motorcycle auction in Jan in Vegas....

Update from Tennessee -

The house remodel has started - the crew came out last week and in three days had most of the demo done.

Maggie and I are moving into a rental (airbnb) in the area for the month of Nov starting tomorrow so that the crew can begin removing the popcorn ceilings and start putting a level 5 on the walls to prep for paint.

New kitchen will start going in and the guest bath should be gutted and replaced and up an running for us by eom Nov - at which time we can move back in for the final stages of the job.

We will be very happy to finally get our furniture in the house and be "moved in" finally when this is all done.

Then I can go back to playing with motorcycles!
