Was too good to be true with no mechanical issues for sometime.
Bike for some reason when attempting to start, gives me a slight engine turn over that almost starts the bike but doesn't.
Battery is fully charged makes no difference. After a handfull of attempts, I let it sit for a bit then hit the starter and it fires right up.
About five years on the motor and it is tight. Starter I installed with the new motor back then.
Could it be the solenoid, or is the starter going south?
A few times I have put the bike in gear, rocked it back and forth then started it but not sure if that was related.
A new starter for this beast is five bills.

You might try installing a solenoid bypass button. I have one on my Heritage as I occasionally get an issue like you described. A simple mechanical push button replaces the starter solenoid end cover and eliminates the handlebar button, relay and wires.

If the starter is trying to turn over the engine it's probably not the solenoid at fault. I would check amp draw when engaging the starter to see if your starter motor has gone bad. I suspect you have faulty battery cables or connections.

Didn't get to it.
Wife had Knee surgery so that put a major damper on any guy activities.
I will get it done but we are having a bit of rain now.
Surgery was successful but she found out she will need a knee total in the summer.
When I get the chance, I will post for sure.

Thanks, She's getting around better everyday now. We just need to plan for her total in the summer.
Age gets us all in the end I guess. I just choose to ignore it till the end, lol ..
It's been raining here pretty good and everyone is happy about it.
The fires are gone and you see blue sky in the mornings now.
It makes you realize how small we really are and who's hand is involved in our lives daily.
My next day off is Wednesday and I will tear into the starter thing then.
Should have her 100% and road worthy by next week end.
It's funny, all my buds but one have hung up their gloves and do the cage thing now full-time.
I still get restless if I'm not getting rides in every week.

Well, my wife had her Gall bladder out and is feeling better. She's still looking at a new knee this summer most likely.
Very grumpy as can be expected with all the stuff going on with her body.
She'll get through this though.
Bike is a wonderment; as soon as the temp got up over 50 degrees the bike would start after I allowed it to sit with lights on for about 30 seconds.
If I just choked it with no throttle bump, it would start like I had a brand new 550 CCA lead acid in her.
If I touched the throttle just a little, she would flood then it was four or five minutes.
If the temp got over 65, it was a normal start without issues.
I keep the trickle charger on it when I know the weather is gonna be cold.
Soo it seems to be manageable but my confidence has been damaged a bit with this ole girl.
Maybe cold weather gets us all after a while... lol
Even the trusted friend and twenty year old FLSTF.
Mom passed away in January at 90 years old and it was with all the family around her, even grandkids.
She went peaceful and without pain or stress.
Dad is 93 and is ready  to leave us. (we thought he'd be first)
He is doing well eating three times a day and sleeping when he wants.
We have a 24/7 cargiver living at the house taking care of him.
Promised both of them they would live their lives out in their home and not a hospice type thing.
We kept good on that promise.
Soo things are happening like in others lives.
You plan and prep then life gets in the way.
It's raining on and off here and I got a few rides in last week. ( It was the best medicine for the soul ever created)
My health is good and I am blessed.
Even had a woman grab my butt in the store last week...
Should of asked for her autograph. lol

Thanks.
I keep thinking about a statement someone said; "You make plans then life gets in the way."
That damn battery is a pain. if its colder than 50 i should just forget about riding which is something that irratates me.
The object of riding is to hop on anytime you want and ride.
I had one instance where it was a crisp morning and I wanted to ride over to a town next over to grab a bottle of black rum.
I crossed my fingers and on the first turn it fire up. It was cold and the motor was needing some help from my right wrist.
Once it stabilized I got off and started to throw on a helmet.
At that point it coughed once thru the carb and quit.
I tried for 15 aminutes to restart her but no luck.
You should of heard the salty vocabulary coming from the garage at that point. {=
