I am a member of the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) and from time to time the AMA sends out Tip documents on various motorcycle matters.

This time we have a Helmet Help document. I hope that the information in the Tip document might prove useful to some of you. The attachment is below.

Here is a good video that supports the advice given in the motorcycle helmet document in the first post in this thread.

Here a good general video from the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) on helmet construction and proper fitment.

Is your helmet DOT tested/rated and only DOT? If so, you might want to watch this video. Being just DOT leaves much to be desired. You should always look for further testing standards like ECE and Snell when buying any helmet. Having just a DOT rating isn't saying much.
