A brake recall on H-D Street 500 and 750 motorcycles has been released in Canada and Australia but at this point the official recall has yet to be released in the USA by the NHTSA.

The brake pads could be dragging on the wheel due to the corrosion of the calliper piston. Dragging brakes could mean premature wear of the pads and/or to the disc.

The below link to RideApart has some information.

The below link is a HDBitchin thread that gives you some information on how to do a VIN search of the NHTSA and the Harley-Davidson websites using your VIN to see if you are included in this or any other recall.

Brakes don’t seem to be a strong point for Harley-Davidson.

So I'm guessing that knowing their customers are at risk of brake failure, or worst, they will wait on the government as opposed to getting out in front of this with them, nice. P R at it's best.
