Nothing wrong with that!!  ^-^

Well had that been the only poor choice I think most of us would have looked the other way but it seems that their spending spree went a bit further than just a few lap dances.   ::)

How can these guys be so smart but yet so stupid?

That is a good question.

How can you raise an initial $2.5 million from Indigogo and then go on to raise an additional $11 million from venture capital funding and then go on to make these kinds of poor spending decisions? Unbelievable that they blew this opportunity when so many things went well and then you have this kind of personal spending that is extremely questionable.

Sounds like the Weller brothers (Marcus and Mitchell) got drunk on the power of the money. News stories that I have read say that investors asked the Weller brothers to step aside and the brothers were even offered a golden parachute but refused to leave.

Maybe this video will help ease the pain of those that lost money in the Skully crowdfunding! Very funny IMO!  ^-^

These videos using Hitler's bunker rant from the movie Downfall have been done on many subjects and I have even posted a couple here on the forum...

Those YouTube videos of that bunker scene are hilarious! Someone should send that one to the Weller brothers.

Ha ha! Love the bunker video.

I have heard that it is hard to wastefully spend a million dollars but these guys had $2.5 million and they did it. You got to hand it to them.  >:D

I stumbled onto this April 2017 article that asks the question, could Skully rise from the grave?

THE SKULLY AR-1 SMART MOTORCYCLE HELMET IS DEAD, BUT COULD STILL RISE FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE
https://www.digitaltrends.com/outdoors/skully-ar-shuts-down/

Don't get your hopes up. IMO Skully isn't coming back. The article offers nothing new (and it even looks like it it old news that was just published again with an April 2017 date). It just asks the question and goes over the history of the rise and fall of Skully.

In my opinion Skully did serious damage to crowdfunding. The fraud and misuse of funding that was seen with Skully has had serious repercussions on websites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter. People lost a little trust seeing what happened at Skully.

My money is in LiveMap. And I have even put down a $500 deposit on their helmet.

I hope that the two brothers that founded Skully, Marcus Weller and his brother Mitch, are serving the jail time they deserve.

I got this in my e-mail this morning.
"You are receiving this email because you are part of the SKULLY Nation and we are bringing back the SKULLY helmet.

We are happy to inform you that the assets of SKULLY, Inc., have been acquired by Ivan Contreras and Rafael Contreras, successful businessmen in a variety of global turnaround industrial and technology ventures, with the goal of fulfilling SKULLY’s destiny.

Ivan Contreras, President of the new company SKULLY Technologies, assembled a new leadership team and has located the headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

SKULLY Technologies is unrelated to the former SKULLY, Inc., which filed bankruptcy and is no longer in business. Although SKULLY Technologies has no formal obligation to the customers of the now defunct SKULLY, Inc., we recognize that hundreds of SKULLY helmet enthusiasts around the world have contributed to this product and were understandably disappointed that they never received one.

We are determined to make this right.

We will be sharing more updates soon on SKULLY and the revival of the SKULLY Nation."

On Facebook there is a closed to public group called, "Skully Helmet Backers Info Group. No Haters (Dave Smith)"  Click here if you are interested and want to join:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/926973577372314/permalink/1381213421948325/?comment_id=1381254841944183&notif_t=group_comment_reply&notif_id=1505766799371744  It's a group not to be taken seriously, (as is mostly the case with many things on Facebook)

A new updated website for Skully has also popped up too.  http://skullytechnologies.com/
Not much to see there, more of a place holder I guess.

Cheers,
Ferrous

Very interesting. This is certainly one to watch, again!! Just goes to show that the fat lady didn't sing I guess.  ^*? The market for these helmets is out there and competition is a good thing for the consumer.

As you know, I placed my money on another high tech helmet, LiveMap, that is supposed to deliver next year around the month of June.

I think other than the NUVIZ this market is wide open for competition. The idea might seem far fetched to some old school motorcycle riders but as said there is a huge market out there of riders that want this technology. It will be interesting to see who delivers and what is delivered.

Here is an article about the rebirth of Skully as mention above by FerrousBueller.

https://paultan.org/2017/09/20/its-2017-where-is-the-hud-helmet-you-promised-me/

The above article also introduces another HUD Helmet that is entering the market from Japanese designer Arata Oono, founder and CEO of Borderless has come up with the CrossHelmet X1, a tech-driven helmet that offers volume control on smart devices, a rear-view camera, twin HUDs, and smartphone/Bluetooth connectivity.

The CrossHelmet Kickstarter campaign is here...

  That CrossHelmet looks interesting!

It's interesting how the market has been flooded with "pre-production" smart helmets, but, only one or two have come out and are now available, (NUVIZ and BIKEHUD?)  The rest are months or even years away.

I'll be looking forward to HDBitchin's review of the LiveMap when it becomes available.

Cheers,
Ferrous
